Children in theGathering.

Children from birth to kindergarten are invited to spend time in our nursery while you worship. They will interact with each other and with adults in activities that are developmentally appropriate and designed to help them grow in their understanding of who God is and how His Word gives direction to their everyday life.

All children are also welcome to attend the worship gathering with you. With your help, children are able to participate in the worship gathering and also grow in their relationship with God. If you do elect to have your child in the worship gathering, we ask that you respect others and remove your child if their behavior becomes disruptive. At anytime during the service, you are welcome to bring your child to the nursery. There is also a cry room available where you can tend to your child’s needs.

Many parents find it helpful to introduce their children to worship by taking them into the gathering to participate in the music and then bringing them to the nursery during the final song before the message. To facilitate doing this, you may want to complete the sign in process before the worship gathering.

Leaving Your Child

Each time your child is left in the nursery, you will be asked to sign them in by completing a nametag and placing it on their back. You will keep the stub with the corresponding number. If you are leaving a diaper bag, please make sure it is labeled with your child’s name. Once you have a nametag on your child, you may bring your child into the nursery.

Children will often cry when being left by parents. You are always welcome to stay and help settle your child into the room but this often prolongs the crying. The crying usually stops soon after parents leave and becomes less common with regular attendance. The staff will do everything to make certain your child’s experience is a positive one.

If you are needed in the nursery for any reason, the number on your child’s nametag and your stub will be flashed on the screen in the worship gathering. After the worship gathering, we encourage you to pick your child up promptly to prevent any feelings of anxiety. Children will only be released to the person presenting the stub with the number corresponding to the number on the child’s nametag.

Staffing

The nursery will be staffed by Kaleo volunteers who have been screened and trained to insure your child receives the best care possible. There will always be at least 2 staff members present in the nursery.

Food

We will be glad to feed infants the food you provide but regret that we are unable to refrigerate or heat bottles or food. To avoid problems related to sharing, cleanliness, and allergies we discourage snacks for older children.

Health

For the health and safety of all the children, we will not be able to care for any child who exhibits signs of illness. Please let our staff know if your child has any special health concerns such as allergies. For safety reasons, we will not administer any medication to children.

Toileting

Parents will need to provide diapers and wipes for their child. For health and safety, gloves are worn and a disposable changing pad is used for every diaper change. Children who are potty training should be brought in either diapers or pull-ups to help prevent accidents.

A restroom is located in close proximity to our classroom. A staff member will accompany children to the restroom and we will maintain an “open door” policy when staff members are needed in the restroom to help a child.
